Chalon opened in 1930, less than five years after the school's founding by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet at our original location near downtown Los Angeles. ![Shuttles-Chalon-2](https://learn.msmu.edu/hs-fs/hubfs/Shuttles-Chalon-2.jpg?width=1440&height=617&name=Shuttles-Chalon-2.jpg) Chalon features unparalleled beauty, including Spanish Colonial architecture, rolling hills, access to hiking trails and serene views of the ocean. The Chalon Campus is also home to bustling student activity, interesting programs and events, and many clubs and organizations since it is home to the Mount's [traditional baccalaureate degree programs. ](https://www.msmu.edu/departments/) A few Chalon Campus highlights: The Circle Brady Hall Student Lounge Coe Library ![Circle,-Students-Outdoors-(splits)-1](https://learn.msmu.edu/hs-fs/hubfs/Circle%2c-Students-Outdoors-(splits)-1.jpg?width=1310&height=810&name=Circle%2c-Students-Outdoors-(splits)-1.jpg) The Circle is where it all happens — the Athenian Awards, Mary’s Day, the Spring Carnival and, of course, the Lighting of the Circle. Vaulted ceilings and Gothic stained-glass windows house all the tech you could need to dig deep and get ahead.  In addition, our shuttles take students between campuses, as well as to various spots around the city for shopping, beach access and dining out. The campus is a combination of 1900’s mansions and cutting edge facilities.
